Thai volleyball is in the spotlight: SEA V.League, VNL and the upcoming big tournament

Thailand’s volleyball scene is buzzing with excitement as both the men’s and women’s national teams compete in top-tier tournaments, while the country prepares to host one of the biggest volleyball events in the sport’s history.

SEA V.League Men’s Action: Victories and Rivalries

The Thai men’s national team kicked off Week 1 of the 5th SEA V.League with a dominant straight-sets victory over Cambodia, securing the Week 1 championship held in Candon City, Philippines. Earlier in the tournament, Thailand edged out defending SEA Games champion Indonesia in a close battle but fell to Vietnam. Nonetheless, the team bounced back to beat Cambodia again and clinched the gold for the first week.

In Week 2, hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia got revenge for their earlier loss by defeating Thailand in an epic final showdown 3-2 (27–29, 25–15, 25–23, 22–25, 15–13), taking home the gold. Thailand finished third overall, earning the bronze medal.

High Stakes in the Women’s VNL

In the 2025 Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL), Thailand’s women’s team faced a tough road after back-to-back losses to Germany (0-3) and the USA earlier in July. These results placed Thailand at risk of relegation under the new integrated league format. However, their narrow five-set loss to Canada (2-3) earned them 1 crucial point — just enough to avoid relegation. Thailand finished 17th in the standings, with South Korea taking the relegation spot.

Gearing Up to Host the 2025 Women’s World Championship

Looking ahead, Thailand is preparing to host the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 from August 22 to September 7, with matches set to take place in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Nakhon Ratchasima. This marks the first time in Southeast Asian history that the region will host this world-class event. It's expected to generate massive interest, with ticket sales and economic value projected to exceed 8.5 billion baht.

AIS PLAY has secured exclusive broadcasting rights in Thailand, allowing fans across the country to watch every match of the national team live and support them in real time through Thailand volleyball live streaming.

Meanwhile, 12BET Thailand and other sponsors are helping fuel local and international enthusiasm, pushing Thai volleyball into a transformative era — both in terms of competition and global event hosting.
